Hi Don, these are surely Ibis' not herons. I assume they are the species Hadeda Ibis, which is widespread in Africa.

Better than the pigeons we get on our roof in England!

thats what I thought, I have a local bird book I used to get the latin name and discovered these birds listed as Herons. Its been bugging me since I uploaded the pic. I looked up Ibis and the pic they have looks very much like these two....I am not a bird person so I need a book. Now that you have given me the info I am going to contact the books publisher first thing in the morning and bring this to their attention. I feel like a total idiot now but thank you for alerting me
