The remains of a Douglas R4D (Dakota DC-3 C 117) from the US navy.

I think it was in 1978 that the pilots of this Douglas R4D had to make a emergency landing
here on ash sandy Solheimasandur south of volcano Eyjafjallajokull ;-)
