Glymur is located in the bottom of Hvalfjördur ( Whale fjord ).
The name Hvalfjördur is from an old legend of a beast in the form of a whale.
This beast destroyed many ships on the fjord. A priest tricked the beast up a river in the bottom of the fjord.
Up the large waterfall Glymur ( Clang ) and up to a lake Hvalvatn ( Whalelake ).
There the beast was so tired it died.
Full view of the waterfall is only possible from the other side of the canyon.
Hope I can post that later. | |
