Personally, I like to make the background blur. DOF is a awesome thing and can work to the photographer's advantage. Sometimes what's blurred in the background can give subtle messages that enhance the photo. Seeing Lindsey's joy over a butterfly really makes this a special photo to me and her pretty blurred smile certainly draws the eye.

it's fascinating what different folks sees in a pic.... I took a look at the thumb from across another's page and the 1st thing I saw was Lindsey's smile - and I EXPECTED a butterfly to be there - how's that?
