strange effect: the sun and the moon together?

Not the sun, just the moon and some errant flare from the scene. It was a nightmare trying to take photos in the middle of a crowd, in the dark, hand-holding the camera... This is one of VERY few that came out!

wow! at one time English Heritage wouldn't let people anywhere near the stones!

I think Solstice is about the only time you can do this for free, though a friend told me you can get private access for a small fee. I understand there may also be access possible at the Winter Solstice, but that's not so well attended - probably just the Druids.

I ssem to remember that the Druids complained about rules and regulations affecting the free practice of their religion. William Roache (Ken Barlow in Coronation St) is a druid and mounted a vociferous campaign.
