Pre-Christmassy evenings with mulled wine....
cooked by myself
It is a traditional winter hot drink as in Hungary as in the German speaking countries... in Middle-Europe...
how to make:

How I make it very simple:
1 pint (cca. 500 ml) water bring to boil with:
5 spoon brown sugar (or less or more)
2 sachet of mulled wine spices...(looks like tea bag..bought by ALDI)
1 peel and juice of a lemon and orange
boil the water and spices cca, 5-10 mins... then add 1 bottle of any red wine.... make it shortly to boil again and ready!!!
Serve it hot!
When you can't buy the spices in bags then here is the recipe:
1 lemon, and orange peel and juice
5 spoon sugar (or bit more)
10 cloves,
5 cardamom pods, bruised
1 cinnamon stick or powder
A pinch of freshly grated nutmeg
1 bottles of any red wine
Peel and juice 1 orange, and add to a large saucepan along with the lemon peel, sugar and spices. Add enough water to just cover the sugar, and heat gently until the sugar has dissolved, stirring occasionally. Bring to the boil and cook for 5 – 10 minutes - until your partner can feel the scent in the living room :-))).
Turn the heat down, and pour the wine into the saucepan, Gently heat through and serve in mugs.
Mulled wine is a guaranteed spirit raiser...so just carefully with it!! :-))
