Silvered glass, obtained with a chemical reaction knows as "Tollen's Reduction". Nice effect, I think

2 AgNO3 + 2 NaOH --> Ag2O + H2O + 2 NaNO3;
Ag2O + 4 NH3 + H2O --> 2 Ag(NH3)2OH
If I remember well :)

Yup, that's the first part of the "Tollens' Reduction", that's correct =)
In the last part you have to treat the solution with a reducing agent, in order to reduce the Ag (I) to metallic Ag.
...God, I love discussing about Chemistry, especially with a nice girl XD

hehe I remember Tollens reduction from highschool even, my mate thought he'd get rich with silver lol

"nothing's lost, everything is tranformed" that's all I remember about chemistry

Lol! Even though, that's not something to be underestimated. Lots of friends of mine still act like you can create something from nothing, in both a scientific and philosophical way.
So: be glad you remember that ;)

Ahah! Wow, but you still remember it then! :D
I studied it by myself the past year, since I almost didn't study chemistry in highschool: I studied foreign languages. I'm making up for that, though, at the uni.
All I knew a couple of years ago was not far from what the good AdrienM remembers =P
