This fortification system was built along borderline during 1935-38 against the Nazis. But Czechoslovakia did not defence against Nazi invasion, as well as later against communist takeover. The result of this attitude was selective genocide of inhabitants (the best people from the nation were executed, murdered, or imprisoned) and several massive waves of emmigration. The so called Velvet revolution in 1989 ensured impunity even to the worst communist criminals...Terrible to hear about killing of farmers in SA - these murders are usually not presented in the media.

Probably I don't understand what you mean. These forts were built during 30's against Nazis. Czechoslovakia did not defense against Nazi invasion, and became part of German Empire. Hitler took over this tiny state. The result of this takeover was genocide of elites of the seized nation. Many Czechoslovaks were sent to concentration camps, imprisoned, or executed. After 1945 (Jalta conferrence) Stalin was allowed to seize Eastern Europe. Communists came to power in coup in February 1948. Genocide continued - the same way. Communists persecuted "class enemies" - businessmen, politicians, tradesmen, farmers, members of democratic army, but also intelligence - doctors, engeneers, teachers, clerics, nuns, university students...This terror lasted about 20 years. During late 60's the regime loosened a little, but this relative freedom was abruptly finished by the Soviet invasion in August 1968. Czechoslovakia was seized by the Soviet army untill 1990. Communist terror led to several massive waves of emmigration. Communists, who personally participated in this terror (not only in Czechoslovakia), were not charged with crimes against humanity (in the difference from Nazis, who were interrogated during the Norimberg trial). Communists did not let anybody go out. Inhabitants did not have passports, and the border was a 4 m fence with bribed wire and electricity in it. Minefields were everywhere around the border.
What I wanted to say is, that freedom is not for granted. If you face violence, you have no other choice than to defence. Because if you just give up to the enemy, you will loose everything. That's all. No ask for weapons or money. Just a history lesson. Freedom is not free.
