Naïve art
Fresh imagery, vibrant colours and non-traditional perspective characterize Naïve Art, the style of art which I invite you to discover this spring. The term often refers to artwork created by artists without formal training. However, the Naïve style, with its childlike vision and artistic simplicity, was also adopted by modernists, like its most famous proponent Henri Rousseau, as a way of challenging what they saw as traditional art’s false sophistication. Naïve artists are sometimes referred to as modern primitives. Naïve art invites us to participate in scenes suffused with vivid colours and bold shapes, inspiring wonder.
