A side hall way of the altar of the Izumo Grand Shrine, Izumo-shi, Shimane, Japan
Went to Izumo-shi, Shimane Prefecture to attend a wedding at Izumo Grand Shrine (Izumo Taisha). It was the first time for us to attend a wedding in shrine style inside an actual shrine, which just happened to be very historically and traditionally important for Japanese Shintoism. The original building, which doesn't exist nowadays, was build way back in A.D. 4.
It was raining all day long this day as a big tyhoon was hitting Japan giving dreadful damage to some parts of Japan. This large shrine was just sitting there so sacredly. Really felt solemn.....
