We saw feelds with these cacti.... it turned out that they are used in tapenadas and in jam...... beautiful to see these cacti in that black invironment..... some were blooming.

Annamaria the little beetles , cochineal scale insects... that feed on these cacti are used for crimson dye, carmine... also the fruit is a good cure forhangovers... they are grown in the canary isles and originate from Mexico
