Annamaria's Fotothing

Urk used to be an island in the "Zuiderzee" where the people lived from catching fish. In the early days a lot of fisherman died on sea because of the bad boats and equipment. This memorial shows a woman who looks at the sea waiting for her husband to return. On these 34 panels 368 names are mentioned of people who have died on sea in the the old days.

The people of this town still are very religious thats why the town has a lot of churches.
