"The nation’s tallest monument at 630 feet, the Gateway Arch has beckoned visitors for more than 40 years with its iconic, awe-inspiring shape. The vision of renowned architect Eero Saarinen, the Gateway Arch commemorates Thomas Jefferson and St. Louis’ role in the westward expansion of the United States. A visit to St. Louis isn’t complete without standing at its base and playing professional photographer, and the view from the outside is only half of the experience.

The attraction within the Arch is the Journey to the Top, Yes I did go to the top. The arch is the Gateway to the West.

In front of the arch is the old Capitol Building.dome. the building is undergoing restoration

	Sep 04 2012 08:04 GMT 25barb linnyww - no you cannot feel it moving..an encredible experience... It was my third time up...The view is amazing. There was even a Cardinals baseball game in progress, but at 630 high= didn't see too much even with 250 lens..Great adventure...
