Christmas bird count, 12/20. Eucalypti. A bunch of Turkey Vultures, and a Red-Tailed Hawk or two, were circling the tops of these trees. I wonder if they generate enough heat to create a thermal. The eucalyptus is an Australian tree, not native to this area but ubiquitous anyway. It grows very fast, I presume, because there are huge rows of them providing windbreaks on ranches that are probably not much more than 100 years old. They drop large shreds of bark in our high-wind rainstorms, littering the roads but generating a nice aroma.
